Actors and actresses alike are often asked to slim down for a film role, or even put on weight. Think Renee Zellweger in Bridget Jones or Beyonce in Dreamgirls.
It is sort of their job to fit into their roles and look as true to character as possible. One actress however straight up refused to lose weight for her most recent role.
Margot Robbie stars in The Legend of Tarzan, which was released in the USA on July 1st, as Jane Porter Clayton.
She explained that she told producers that she wouldn’t be losing weight for the sake of the character.
“It’s the 19th century (in the film) – if she’s got a bit of weight on her, it’s probably a good thing,” she said. “I’m not going to look thin just for the sake of it.”
In actual fact she had an even better reason to refuse to shed any pounds.
She wanted to visit and eat at pubs in London and if she was on a diet it would totally ruin her plans.
“It was my first time living in London properly and I wanted to try every pub,” she said.
We have major respect for the Australian actress for not bowing to pressure to lose weight and also for being totally upfront about why.
