6.5 magnitude earthquake reported off coast of northern California

North California has been hit by a large 6.5 magnitude earthquake.

The earthquake occurred 165 kilometres from Ferndale, California.

Previously, the USGS said that the magnitude of the earthquake was 6.8, it was then downgraded.

This comes days after a  4.3 magnitude quake hit California at around 10.30am local time at an epicentre with a depth of 21km on December 5th.
