First Look: Stephen King’s ‘Gerald’s Game’ Gets a Heart Pumping New Trailer

We just did a post on six Stephen King adaptations that we had to turn away from, because they were so terrifying… and, now, we have one more to add to the list, based on the trailer alone.

King’s 1992 novel Gerald’s Game is being adapted into a Netflix movie, premiering on September 29.

The premise of the story is pretty simple: a married couple, Gerald and Jessie Burlingame, are at their home, secluded in the woods (of course!) and decide to do some role playing. The husband (Bruce Greenwood) handcuffs his wife (Carla Gugino) to the bed in an attempt to spice up their sex life. This is where things take a turn… he has a heart attack, tumbles to the ground and dies, leaving her chained to the bed.

That alone is horrifying… being trapped in a room, with your own husband dead on the floor. But, just think, there is no one to hear her yelling. Her phone is just out of reach. As the days go on, she needs water. We can see in the trailer where her thoughts take her. Is she hallucinating, due to dehydration , or is it real?

You tell us — take a peek at the trailer below:

The “turn away moment” for us in the above trailer was at 2:05, when a roving dog enters the room and jumps in bed with her for a nibble… of her leg.

You may recognize Gugino from 2005’s Sin City as Lucille. She recently starred in the 2015-2016 sci-fi series Wayward Pines. We saw Greenwood in the 2016 TV series American Crime Story as Gil Garcetti. He also appeared in the 2015 season of Mad Men as Richard Burghoff. Mike Flanagan (Before I Wake) is set to direct.

Was there a moment in the trailer that really got to you?
