There were plenty of mistakes made surrounding the fake Trump story that has been going around the media recently. And the fault belongs to John McCain.
John McCain revealed in a statement on his website that he was the one that leaked the fake Trump documents, confirming the assumptions of many. This betrayal was unexpected, and the best way to get out of the mess for him now is to resign.

But it turns out that this “unexpected” betrayal has been prepared for almost a year. In an attempt to excuse himself, McCain offered the line “unable to verify the information myself”.
Although the allegations against Trump were released by a widely-known page Buzzfeed, the allegations are still ludicrous. Not a single sensible person would take them seriously yet alone let them pass along the FBI, unless the FBI now is open for investigating sex scandals?
The reporter known for breaking Watergate, Carl Bernstein was involved in the transfer of this rumor from one organization to the other.
Bernstein told CNN, “a former British ambassador to Russia independently was made aware of these findings, and he took the information to John McCain…McCain was sufficiently disturbed by what he read to take it to FBI Director James Comey himself personally, they had a five-minute meeting.”
But we all know that Bernstein tried to downplay McCain’s handling of the information to Comey himself, saying the meeting was brief, but the nature of McCain’s actions indicate that he felt deeply about this matter needing serious attention.
But despite everything, it didn’t deserve that level of attention as the intelligence community is currently back-tracking with some sources telling CNN that the allegations against Trump were to alert the President-elect such rumors were circulating.
