JUST IN: Lawmaker’s ‘Youthful Indiscretions’ Cited As Suicide Shocks State

Earlier this week, former State Rep. Brandon Hixon (R-ID) committed suicide shortly after it was revealed that he was under investigation for allegedly engaging in sexual abuse (pictured above).

Just recently, a former Republican lawmaker in Idaho reportedly committed suicide. He did so shortly after it was revealed that he was under investigation for allegedly engaging in sexual abuse. Shockingly, he’s the second GOP lawmaker accused of sexual misconduct to recently do so.

Specifically, former Rep. Brandon Hixon (R-ID), known for having a history of “youthful indiscretions,” was found dead in his Caldwell home earlier this week by a member of his family. According to reports, he appears to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Rep. Brandon Hixon (R-ID) recently killed himself amid allegations of sexual abuse.

The 36-year-old former legislator’s suicide comes just three months after he resigned from the State House following the launch of a criminal investigation looking into allegations that he engaged in sexual abuse. Unfortunately, as of now, the details of the alleged sexual abuse are currently unclear.

This isn’t the first time that Hixon has been investigated for sexual misconduct though. Back in 2014, he was also investigated by law enforcement officials for allegedly engaging in inappropriate touching while babysitting. Hixon, however, denied any wrongdoing and no charges or arrests were ever made.

Unsurprisingly, many were shocked and saddened by Hixon’s sudden death. For example, in a statement that was released shortly after it was revealed that Hixon killed himself, state legislator Bryan Zollinger (R-ID), said, “very saddened by the about news Rep. Hixon. I wish I had followed the promptings I received and called with words of kindness and encouragement. [It’s a] reminder to us all to love one another despite differences of opinion.”

On Twitter, State Rep. John McCrostie (D-ID) commented on Hixon’s suicide as well, tweeting, “still stunned and shocked. I didn’t always agree with Rep. Hixon, but I could work with and talk to him. That’s seriously a big deal. Hope you find some peace, Brandon. Condolences and prayers to his family including his children.”

In addition to Hixon, State Rep. Dan Johnson (R-KY) also committed suicide shortly after being accused of sexual misconduct. Like Hixon, Johnson also took his own life using a firearm.

Prior to committing suicide, Johnson went on Facebook and posted what appears to be a suicide note. “The accusations from NPR are false GOD and only GOD knows the truth, nothing is the way they make it out to be” he began, adding, “AMERICA will not survive this type of judge and jury fake news. Conservatives take a stand.”

State Rep. Dan Johnson (R-KY) also recently committed suicide shortly after being accused of sexual misconduct.

Johnson then went on to describe the love that he has for his family. “I LOVE GOD and I LOVE MY WIFE, who is the best WIFE in the world, My Love Forever!” stated Johnson. “My Mom and Dad my FAMILY and all five of my kids and Nine grandchildren two in tummies and many more to come each of you or a total gift from GOD stay strong, REBECCA needs YOU,” he added.

“9-11-2001 NYC/WTC, PTSD 24/7 16 years is a sickness that will take my life, I cannot handle it any longer,” continued Johnson in the Facebook post, noting, “IT Has Won This Life. BUT HEAVEN IS MY HOME.”

Towards the end of his Facebook post, Johnson made three final requests. Specifically, he wrote, “PLEASE LISTEN CLOSELY, Only Three things I ask of you to do if you love me is (1) blame no person, Satan is the accuser, so blame the Devil himself. (2) Forgive and Love everyone especially yourself. (3) Most importantly, LOVE GOD,”

Following Johnson’s death, his wife, Rebecca Johnson announced that she will run for her husband’s now-empty seat. “These high-tech lynchings based on lies and half-truths can’t be allowed to win the day,” she explained in a statement about why she decided to run, referring to the article published by the Kentucky Center for Investigative Reporting. “Dan is gone but the story of his life is far from over,” she added, noting, “his fight will go on.”

Without a doubt, the deaths of both Hixon and Johnson are extremely tragic. Hopefully, their families receive all the help they need.
