10.16.17 – U. S. PARENTS INVOLVED IN EDUCATION – USPIE – RELEASES BLUEPRINT TO CLOSE U. S. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION AND END FEDERAL EDUCATION MANDATES
WASHINGTON, DC – An organization advocating shutting down the U.S. Department of Education today released a blueprint on how that can be achieved.
“The time is right. Serious conversations are happening throughout the country about the legitimate and effective role of the federal government in education,” notes the release from United States Parents Involved in Education (USPIE), a national parent group. “Many on both sides of the political aisle agree the Federal government has become unreasonably intrusive and ineffective in education policy and practice.”
Congressman Thomas Massie (R-KY) sponsored HR 899; a simple statement to close USED by the end of 2018, legislation USPIE is advocating.
TEXT OF REP. MASSIE’S HR 899 – INTRODUCED TO CONGRESS ON 2.7.17 — ONE SENTENCE: “The Department of Education shall terminate on December 31, 2018.” https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-bill/899/text
USPIE shared the reasonable blueprint with key legislators and policy leaders in Washington D.C. last week requesting hearings on HR 899 to move towards implementing President Trump’s campaign promise to shut down the Department as soon as possible.
Here is the blueprint as to how the USDOE can and should be shut down as soon as possible:
ACTION STEP: Please contact your Congressmen and ask them to support HR 899. Then send them USPIE’s blueprint which tells how the USDOE can successfully be shut down.
