In 2016, Marvel announced Brie Larson would take on the title role of 2019’s Captain Marvel, creating a milestone moment with this being the studio’s first female-led superhero film, according to Time.
And now, it appears their cinematic #GalaxyofWomen may be growing one female superhero larger with the possibility of Ms. Marvel’s story being made into a film, according to longtime movie producer Kevin Feige.
Feige is credited with producing a long list of superhero flicks, with the most recent including Doctor Strange, starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Thor with another Anglo fan favorite, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, and the record-breaking Black Panther, starring Chadwick Boseman, which premiered earlier this year.
It’s not set in stone, but based on his record of successes, we have a feeling Feige wouldn’t bring up the possibility of a Ms. Marvel film if it weren’t something he’s seriously considering. He talked to BBC’s Husam Asi, saying, “We’re doing Captain Marvel right now. Captain Marvel‘s shooting right now with Brie Larson. Ms. Marvel, which is another character in the comic books, the Muslim hero who is inspired by Captain Marvel, is definitely sort of in the works. We have plans for that once we’ve introduced Captain Marvel to the world.”
“Definitely sort of,” sounds pretty definitive… kind of.
Well, for some reason, if the movie doesn’t get made, it still brings attention to a female superhero that non-comic readers may not have been aware of, until the mention of a possible movie.
If you need some speeding up on the teenage superhero character, Ms. Marvel’s civilian name is Kamala Khan. She joined the Marvel universe in 2014, with her super power being shapeshifting. She can stretch her limbs to great lengths and widths, as well, grow herself up or shrink herself down… and, back again. She is Pakistani-American, from New Jersey.
The comic describes her as, “Just an ordinary girl from Jersey City, until she is suddenly empowered with extraordinary gifts. But who truly is the all-new Ms. Marvel? Teenager? Muslim? Inhuman?”

Some savvy fans are predicting we’ll get a glimpse at Ms. Marvel at the end of Captain Marvel, even offering up the exact scene, where Khan is hanging up pictures of her hero as she simultaneously transforms into a suped-up version of herself:
