Winter Will Not Be Coming To Game Of Thrones

Any fan will tell you that a year is a long time to wait for the next season of Game of Thrones.

At the start of March every year we mentally prepare ourselves for ten episodes of the show that will always break our hearts, make us smile and also curse George RR Martin.

Next year though we might have a little longer to wait as David Benioff and DB Weiss have announced that season seven may be delayed.

We can ask you hearing why and well, the reason is actually quite funny.

Since we can remember, the characters of Game of Thrones have been telling us that “winter is coming”. In actual fact Sansa finally announced that “winter is here”, but that isn’t actually the case.

Filming on one of the most popular shows of all time is being delayed due to the need for winter weather.

Benioff said: “We’re starting a bit later because you know at the end of this season winter is here and that means sunny weather doesn’t really serve our purposes anymore. So we kind of pushed everything down the line so we could get some grim grey weather even in the sunnier places we shoot.”

And the news gets worse. Not only will be have to wait longer, but the episodes in season seven may well be shorter than usual due to post-production taking so long.

Benioff added: “We’ll probably do seven [episodes]… the two [remaining] seasons will be a bit shorter. We don’t have a definite episode count but each season will be a little bit shorter just because each year it takes longer and longer to shoot.

“For us, we know where we’re going. We know how the final season’s going to end- we could write the final episode right now if we had to.”

That’s all well and good for them, but we want to know what happens so hurry up winter! (Words we never though we would say)
